The Day Before Vacation

14 Jul

vacation-2
Oh, yes, my little pleasure nubbins, my vacation starts tomorrow. I will be tossing the kids and my mother-in-law into the car and heading East for a time. Pictures will be taken. Foursquare will be checked-in-to. Facebook will be flooded. Follow along if you like: if all goes well I will be posting updates here as we go. Vacation this year has three simple rules:
  • No more than five hours in the car at a time
  • Every hotel must have a pool
  • No tourist traps
We will be visiting interesting places (the Crayola factory, some historical sites), but we’re making it up as we go. I hate regimented, finely timed and scheduled vacations. We’re going to drift and see where the road takes us, then come home when the money runs out. (As a side note, one of the reasons we’re leaving without my lovely wife is because she has a gig pretty much every night from now until August. If you want to see her and Jim Gill play, now is the best time. Check her schedule for times and locations.) In other news, check these things out:
  • I’ve officially registered for the Cleveland Triathlon. If you’re in the area and want to come and support me and my friends who are also participating, come down to race site that morning and/or purchase beer for me afterwards. I will need it.
  • Episode 43 of The Secret Lair podcast has been posted. In it, we discuss the fate of the former Overlord Johnson and Dr. John Cmar explains the hows and whys of medical studies. Very interesting, very informative.
  • My latest Hack to the Future column for Starburst Magazine has been published: Two Pair, Aces High (registration required)
  • Turntable.fm is too much fun. I DJ there…follow my tweetstream to know when, or become a fan when you find a room I’m in.
  • Oh yeah. I’m on Google+ as well.
