Works In Progress
4 Aug
What? Why are you poking me? CAN’T YOU SEE I’M WORKING?
No? You can’t? Okay, then. Here’s what’s going on:
- Hack to the Future, my monthly column for Starburst Magazine, is still going strong. In it, I review movies, books, games and report on entertainment trends from the future. If you’re looking for speculative fiction about the world of entertainment which is yet to come, this is where you’ll find it.
- The Secret Lair is on the path to worldwide domination. I have three podcast episodes waiting for editing plus working on my own weekly column for the site. We’ve had some strong posts of late, including Dr. John Cmar’s essay about Comic-con, James Kovach’s review of George R. R. Martin’s A Dance With Dragons, David Moore’s series about building a raygun, Natalie Metzger’s ongoing Overlord’s Notebook comic, and my review of the Chromebook. We publish an article every Monday through Friday; subscribe and keep up with our shiny.
- Fatman: Year One is the title of the book I’m writing about my weight loss. Many people have asked me why I started, how I did it, and how I plan on maintaining it. This book will explain all of that and more. Look for it in late October.
- I’m working on an essay for an upcoming collection about breast cancer. It is a work for charity, and it is devilishly difficult. More on this in a future post.
- The Tree of Liberty is the novel I promised at Balticon this past year. Writing is moving slowly because of the research I’m doing. My plan is to get the first draft done during National Novel Writing Month, edit through the winter, and have it available in time for Memorial Day 2012, where I hope to do a reading at Balticon 46. I’m tempted to make the official launch day July 4, 2012; we shall see if that comes to pass.
