Google+, or, Who The Hell Are You People?
17 Oct
The concept of Circles made perfect sense to me. I would add folks I know into different circles for context. Bonus. Love it. Thanks much. This worked out especially well as other folks I know added me to their Circles…it would remind me to add them to mine.
About two months ago, the strangers found me. Names I did not recognize. Understandable…I have a semi-well-known name on a microscopic slice of the Internet. This might be Podiobook listeners, or coders, or people who follow people who follow me. The additions to other Circles would slow eventually as I ran out of extended people who wanted to follow me.
The more international names started popping up. I have no context for those at all. I decided to wait, thinking that they, too, would slow down.
There has no slowing. I have 20–40 people adding me to their Circles everyday. I have no idea why.
They don’t seem to know anyone who knows me. Spammers? Fake people? Who knows? I sure don’t. I stopped adding people to Circles six weeks ago. Until I have a context for your existence, I don’t want to know what you’re doing, thanks very much.
So…if you decide to add me to a Circle on Google+, drop me a line. Tell me how you know me. Otherwise, you’ll be lost in the crowd.
