2024 Tech Roundup
During this holiday break I've been doing a lot of personal tech work. I upgraded and made some tweaks to my Owncast streaming server, started up a Peertube instance to host my gaming videos, and also put a copy of Firefly III on my home server for my finances. I rebuilt my gaming PC, using Pop OS as the base and it's been pretty fantastic.
Once again, I find myself inspired by all the FOSS community has to offer. I'm doing a thing I've wanted to do seriously for years, and that's get off of all the corporate bullshit crapware and get some software that adds value to what I am creating, be it code, audio/video, or these words on this site. My deal is that I give money and support to those projects if I cannot volunteer more directly.
I saw Kev post his default apps for this year, and thought I'd get in on that action.

Upcoming Plans
- I want to learn more about Veilid, possibly make use of VeilidChat
- Continue working on my Pentesting classes from Hack The Box
- That podcast. Yeah. Need to get on that. Turns out I have a lot of complicated feelings about recording myself.
- Finish a cool little project I'm working on for fiction podcastsa with Evo and David.
- I'm working my way through Micah Lee's Hacks, Leaks, and Revelations: The Art of Analyzing Hacked and Leaked Data a little at a time. Next stuff in there.
- I'm creating a new campaign for my D&D group, as we just finished Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden. Looking forward to digging into that.
I hope you all have a very happy new year. Buckle up, 2025 is gonna be quite a ride.
